RITHIKHA RAJAMOHAN    Email | rithikha.com
I’m a writer, photographer, freelance filmmaker and producer with a background in ecology and urban planning. I’m driven by a fascination for finding the surreal in the ordinary.

My current work with the
Ethereum Foundation Summer of Protocols fellowship is a series of speculative fiction stories that explore the nexus of cities and emerging collaborative technology.

My most recent short film, Sympoiesis, strings together dreamlike shots of fungi, crosswalks, roots and other awe-inspiring footage of everyday life to answer the question of where life is trying to go and what it is trying to become. The film was an official selection at the 2023 New Jersey Film Festival, a Montreal Independent Film Festival Nominee, and received an honorable mention at the Munich New Wave Short Film Festival.

I also dabble in parametric and audio-visual multimedia and am currently experimenting with combining photography with digital animatics techniques.

SYMPOIESIS - EXPERIMENTAL SHORT FILM

Sympoiesis, meaning "boundaryless" or "making together" is an exploration of co-creation and an attempt to answer the question of where life is trying to go. The film is a recognition that we are as a species just one of many forms of intelligent life, each with its own entangled reasons for being. In an age of self-induced ecological, technological and social collapse, the film is also a comforting reminder that we are no more than adolescents in evolutionary time, a young and fragile species prone to making mistakes, and yet still learning, growing and striving to find its proper place in an inherently symbiotic world.

THE MYCELIUM FUND

Science-based, story-infused research to guide the development of a new self-organizing grant funding program.

The design principles are the distillations of my conversations with scientists and field researchers to better understand how ecological networks attain, distribute and share resources. After all, nature has had 2 billion years to practice and perfect, why hsould we reinvent the wheel?

ANTHILL HACKS

AntHill is a metaphor for the world of structure and complexity that exists just beneath the surface of everything around us. Anthill Hacks is a two-week unconference located in the foothills of Devarayanadurga, Karnataka.

The event provides a space away from the usual bustle of life for people from all domains to live and build together for two-weeks. At Anthill Hacks we learn, take apart, and create; sitting together overlooking the region’s mountains, forests farms and lakes while weaving together the technological, social and ecological fabric around us.

We bring together urban and rural dwellers, the young and old, women and non-binary communities, and those with all kinds of lived and practiced experience. Anthill Hacks is where we intentionally create the space for meaningful connections to form, enabling us to better build across the many different ecosystems we inhabit in order to create technologies (in the most expansive definition of the word) for people.
